Azealia Banks is on the cover of the summer issue of Paper magazine. Banks is relatively new to the rap scene and she’s already been embraced by the fashion community. In a few short months she has had the honor of performing for famed Chanel Director Karl Largerfeld, apperaing in W Magazine, getting styled by Alexander Wang for the equivalent of a high fashion prom – the MET Ball, and having her first video off her 1991 EP directed by Nicola Formichetti – in case you didn’t know he’s Lady Gaga’s stylist and creative director of French fashion house Mugler.
Paper Magazine created six GIFs from the shoot featuring Banks in various poses and outfits. Azealia banks is a breath of fresh air and definitely someone I will be checking out for in the future. She seems to be having fun with all the notoriety she’s garnered in music as well the fashion community. She is not afraid to try to new things and she takes fashion risks without losing her identity and letting the clothes wear her. She is definitely a Style Inspiration in my book!
This week in New York, Roc Nation’s new artist Rita Ora rocked a pair of Blumarine laced booties with full on street wear by The Hundreds and her trusty beanie. I know a lot people still think Rita hasn’t got the whole fashion thing down yet but I disagree. Her style is always different and quirky with ever so subtle feminine touches like her signature red lips.
Her Blumarine laced up booties, which cost a hefty $1,157, remind me of when celebrities like Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez used to spot high heeled Manolo Blahniks and high heeled Nike sneakers in the early 2000s. Rita Ora doesn’t look like any other celebrity in the game and that’s what I love about her!
